Masters of Defense MD90-3 CQD MARK V Plain Edge
Winner of the prestigious International Blade Shows Overall Knife of the Year Award, this knife was designed by the official close-combat trainer of the U.S. Navy SEALs. Intended as a full-service combat utility and fighting knife, its most distinctive feature is its unique twin-pronged guard. These "Striker hilts" provide superior protection to the users hand when employed against other weapons and are extremely effective in limited-penetration thrusting. In a utility context, they provide puncturing and prying tools that preserve the tip of the blade the most frequently abused part of any field knife. Precision ground from high-carbon A-2 tool steel for superior toughness, the Mark Vs blade is coated with Black Diamond-Like Coat (DLC), a permanently bonded state-of-the-art coating that provides superior wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and non-reflective qualities. It is available with either a plain or partially serrated primary edge and has a sharpened false edge for maximum penetration and both draw cut and back cut capabilities. The Mark Vs glass-filled nylon handle is impervious to chemicals, non-conductive, and features a flat steel pommel for hammering and impact-weapon applications. In addition to textured wingwalk inserts and strategically placed traction grooves, the Mark Vs handle also features a unique four-way expansive hilt and Dieter Side Hilts to provide an exceptional grip under extreme field conditions. The unique handle design of the Mark V also allows it to be quickly lashed to a pole or branch for use as a spear in survival scenarios. This significant evolution over traditional field knives comes equipped with a molded Prylon sheath with Tek-Lok hardware for easy attachment to belts or web gear.
